Stove Fuel FAQ

How much will it cost to deliver my fuel?

We offer a FREE direct fuel delivery service to UK mainland customers (Restrictions to this service apply for the Channel Islands, Scottish Islands, Highlands or Northern Ireland, see below).

Can I buy fuel from my local store?

Whilst we do not stock fuel in our superstores all our fuel products will be available to order in-store.  FREE direct delivery will be arranged for UK mainland customers at the point of purchase.

How long do deliveries take?

Fuel orders will be delivered within 5 working days from the point of placing your order.  You will be contacted by couriers to arrange a convenient delivery time. Whilst they cannot guarantee an exact delivery time, they can confirm the day of delivery and whether it will be early/late morning or afternoon. They will also check that you have a suitable delivery area for the order, for instance a driveway with good access.

How are bulk bags of seasoned hardwood delivered?

We sell both 1 cubic m (m3) and 1.5 cubic m (m3) bulk bags of seasoned hardwood. These items are large, heavy and have to be delivered on a lorry with a tail lift. If the delivery address has a driveway with good access, our delivery team will endeavour to unload the product as close to your preferred location as they can. If the delivery address has unsuitable access, our delivery team will deliver the product to the safest and most suitable position near to the property as they can.

What are the delivery restrictions?

All standard mainland Great British postcodes are covered; this does not include the Channel Islands, Scottish Islands, Highlands or Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands can be delivered to at a surcharge. If you wish to arrange such a delivery, please contact our telesales team on 0115 956 5555.

Is the seasoned hardwood fuel sustainable?

The seasoned hardwood we sell is Heatas / Woodsure approved, meaning it is proven to come from a sustainable, renewable and well-managed woodland. It also ensures that the wood is UK sourced and has a moisture content below 25% - making it perfect for wood burning stoves whilst benefiting from strict Quality Control measures. As we only deliver the fuel directly, there is no risk of it being contaminated in storage and we can guarantee the quality of the wood fuel.

Where should the hardwood fuel be stored?

The seasoned hardwood should be stored under cover but in open air to allow free circulation to the product. It should not be stored in a sealed polythene bag. For best results, bring the fuel inside the house a few days prior to use to ensure it is as dry as possible before burning.

Why is VAT on fuel only 5%?

As with gas and electricity, the VAT on fuel for domestic heating is charged at 5%, not 20% as with other products we sell.

Can customers of our seasoned hardwood logs claim Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) payments?

Yes. The bulk bags of seasoned hardwood are approved on the Biomass Suppliers List (BSL), therefore you can claim RHI payments.

What is The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) Scheme?

The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive is a government financial incentive to promote the use of renewable heat sources. People who join the scheme are eligible to receive quarterly payments for 7 years corresponding to the amount of clean, green and renewable heat that their system produces.

To find out if you and your home are eligible for enrolment in the scheme please visit https://www.gov.uk/ and search for "RHI".
