Classic Motor Show 2012
Machine Mart at The 2012 Footman James Classic Motor Show & Motorbike Show
Once again the Footman James Classic Motor/Motorbike Show returned to the NEC in Birmingham and this time it was even bigger and better than ever.
Spread across 11 halls and featuring hundreds of trade stands, vehicles of all types, auctions and live shows, there was plenty on offer for the 60,000 enthusiasts and visitors who visited the show across three exciting, interesting and thoroughly enjoyable days in mid November.
In total, the auction sold £1.1 Million worth of vehicles, including an extremely rare and exclusive Ferrari Enzo, one of only 400 produced, a James Bond style Aston Martin DB4 and a 1971 Fiat 500 previously owned by Samantha Cameron, wife of Prime Minister David Cameron, sold for £18,000, over double its estimated value of £8,000.
Machine Mart were also located in hall 9 and our stand stood proudly in a prime position alongside some of the most desirable vehicles and sought after brands at the show, including the Meguiars stand, Bugatti owners club, Lamborghini enthusiasts club, Ferrari club, a stand displaying the 2012 McLaren F1 Racing Car and a 1939 two-stage supercharged V12 Auto Union D-type ‘Silver Arrow’ race car worth an estimated £5-8 Million!
Situated a short distance from the main entrance to the show, it didn’t take long for the visitors to find us and the stand proved to be a very popular attraction for all three days, with thousands of new and existing customers admiring the huge array of tools and equipment on display, helping themselves to a free catalogue and entering our competition to win £500 of Clarke products.
Once again, our range of lightweight aluminium trolley jacks proved extremely popular with automotive enthusiasts thanks to their low frames, saddles and impressive lifting capacity, while the Clarke HD tool chests and cabinets drew gazes from both professional and hobbyist mechanics alike. The Clarke 24V Impact Wrench on display was also of particular interest due to its convenience and high torque for un-doing wheel nuts with ease and speed.
On Sunday, Machine Mart saved the day when the owner of a rare, but temperamental Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4SV asked if he could kindly borrow the JumpStart 12v/24v on display to jump start his £270,000 raging bull that had stood cold for three days. With the help of Machine Mart staff the Clarke Jump Start soon had the super rare Lamborghini up and running again!
The Footman James Classic Motor/Motorbike show always provides us with a fantastic opportunity to interact with both current and future customers and this year was no exception, with plenty of expert staff on hand to answer any questions about the stand, the vast range of products or the show itself. With a record number of visitors at the show, there was a constant flow of motoring enthusiasts popping by and it was a pleasure to talk with and listen to the stories of so many enthusiastic people.
The 2012 Footman James Classic Motor/Motorbike show was once again, a great success for all involved and we are already looking forward to 2013 – hopefully we will see you there!
